Beyond the International Women´s day
Almost a week has passed since International Women’s Day—a day meant to honor, reflect, and push forward. But while the calendar has moved on, the importance of the fight for women’s voices, choices, and autonomy has not. In today’s world, where political and societal landscapes attempt to restrict, redefine, and silence, it is more crucial than ever to claim space, to rise, and to remind ourselves of the unshakable power that comes with being a woman. The reality is that the forces seeking to limit women’s rights—whether through legislation, cultural expectations, or deeply ingrained biases—are not simply about policy; they are about control. The attempt to narrow the scope of a woman’s choices is an attempt to weaken her influence. Yet, time and time again, women have proven that no restriction can truly contain their strength, resilience, and ability to cultivate change.
Beyond resistance, beyond the fight, there is something undeniably beautiful about womanhood. Not a singular experience, not a rigid definition, but a spectrum of existence that is diverse, dynamic, and ever-evolving. There is beauty in the complexity, in the ability to nurture and lead, to express softness and ferocity in equal measure. There is power in intuition, in creativity, and in the way women have built and continue to build communities that uplift and transform.
In this climate, one of the most radical and necessary things we can do is to embrace the entirety of what it means to be a woman. To celebrate it in ourselves and in each other. To cultivate spaces where women feel safe to be loud, opinionated, vulnerable, and unapologetically themselves. To build sisterhoods—whether through friendships, chosen families, or professional circles—that encourage, support, and empower.
Think about the women who inspire you. Maybe it’s a trailblazing public figure who shattered barriers, a mother or grandmother whose wisdom shaped your resilience, or a best friend who has stood by you through every storm.
- What is it about them that moves you?
- Their strength?
- Their compassion?
- Their ability to dream despite the odds?
Now, turn that gaze inward. What is it about you that is powerful? What are the qualities you bring into the world that deserve to be celebrated?
